Mental Health Unit

The mission of the Hood County Sheriff’s Office Mental Health Unit is to develop partnerships with the local mental health entity (Pecan Valley) to establish communications and assistance to mental health consumers and their families.

Mental Health programs help improve the crisis response system by diverting people in need of behavioral health crisis services from hospitals and jails to community-based alternatives that provide effective behavioral health treatment at less cost. Mental Health Deputies are officers specially trained in crisis intervention through Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

The Mental Health Unit is not solely a reactive division. This unit stays in communications with consumers and their families throughout their time of need and continues to follow-up with them to ensure the consumer gets all available resources possible.
