Application for Ballot by Mail

Monday, January 1st is the first day to request Applications for Ballot by Mail (ABBM) for elections to be held in 2019.

You may qualify for an Application for Ballot by Mail if the reason for voting by mail is 1) 65 years of age or older; 2) disability; 3) expected absence from county; or 4) confinement in jail.

Voters who are 65 years of age or older or are disabled qualify to apply for an Annual Application for Ballot by Mail.  Choosing the “Annual Application”, option ensures that the voter will receive a mail ballot for all elections held during a calendar year.  Annual ABBM may be submitted starting the first day of a calendar year (January 1) and not later than the 11th day before Election Day and expire on the last day (December 31) of the year in which it was submitted.

Voters who do not qualify to submit an Annual ABBM may submit an application for a single election starting the first day of the calendar year (January 1) and not later than the 11th day before Election Day.  If the 11th day is a weekend or holiday, the deadline is the first preceding business day.

Voters filling out the ABBM need to take in account that 2018 is a primary year and if the voter is requesting a primary ballot, they must check which primary ballot (Democratic or Republican) they would like to have mailed to them.

You can request an application from Hood County Elections office (817) 408-2525 or download application by clicking here (English) or here (Spanish).  This application does not have our mailing address on it, so you will have to write it on the front. Elections' Office mailing address is below.

Applications to vote by mail must be submitted by mail, common or contact carrier, fax or email to the Early Voting Clerk – Hood County Elections Office. If a voter submits an ABBM via fax or email, the early voting clerk must receive a copy via mail within four business days of the submission of the fax or email.
