  • Without a state-approved marriage education class certificate - $77

Required Documents

Applicants are required to provide proof of age and identity. Any valid, current, and correct document in English issued by this state, another state, the U.S. government, or a foreign government establishing identity and age is acceptable, with the exception of a consulate card. Examples include:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Passport
  • Certified birth certificate
  • Current employment badge or card
  • Current military ID
  • Valid government ID

Applicants must also know their Social Security numbers.

Time Periods

From the date of issuance of a marriage license, the license is good for 90 days and may be used anywhere in Texas. There is a 72-hour waiting period before the marriage license may be used, unless one applicant is on active duty in the armed forces.
