The Development Department is responsible for administering Hood County's Development, Subdivision, and Floodplain Regulations and state laws regarding development, platting, and filing requirements as they apply to private and commercial development.
Note: Hood County does not issue permits/perform inspections related to residential home construction/remodeling.
Note: Hood County Development is not an abstracting office and does not perform title searches to tell you what; if any, restrictions or easements are on a piece of property.
Note: Hood County Development will answer your questions concerning compliance with the Floodplain Regulations, Development Regulations or Subdivision Regulations, but cannot tell you if a property can have a mobile home or if a property is buildable. Those questions need to be checked against any covenants and/or restrictions, or with a private site evaluator to provide the answer.
Our mission is to enhance county aesthetics through effective enforcement of existing regulations and laws while encouraging recreation and preventing pollution of the state's rivers and lakes.
A violation of Hood County's development regulations constitutes a misdemeanor under Texas state law.
