Lieutenant Gary Roberts is from Mansfield, Texas and graduated from Mansfield High School before attending the Basic Peace Officer Academy in 2006. Lt. Roberts came to the Sheriff’s Office in March of 2021 and has been in Law Enforcement for over 16 years. Lt. Roberts previously worked for the Stephenville Police Department and the Rosenberg Police Department.
During his time in Law Enforcement, Lt. Roberts has been assigned to Patrol, SWAT, K-9 Division, Criminal Investigation Division, Narcotics, Street Crimes Unit and is currently assigned as the Lieutenant over the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and Street Crimes Unit (SCU). Lt. Roberts served as a Team Leader and Team Commander for the Regional Special Operations Group from 2013-2018.
As CID Lieutenant he is responsible for assigning and reviewing cases, managing critical incidents, career development for the Investigators and investigating cold cases. Lt. Roberts also oversees our Street Crimes Unit where Investigators work in a covert capacity to proactively interdict and target all types of criminal activity to include theft, burglary, violent crimes and illegal narcotics.
Lt. Roberts has over 3000 hours of continuing education in Law Enforcement, he holds a Master Peace Officer license and several Instructor certificates to include Firearms, Dignitary Protection, Less Lethal and Chemical Munitions and Active Shooter.
